Cars in German City Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Authorities stated they were contacted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say initial examinations show the substance was likely human blood.

"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for information.

A high-ranking official stated the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
