One two-month cruise around Australia was terminated days after the death of an older lady who was abandoned by the vessel on a remote tropical isle.

The passenger had been walking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but parted ways from the group for a rest. The liner sailed away leaving her and came back several hours later after the crew realised the woman was missing.

A major hunt located her remains the subsequent day.

Officials are investigating the event, in coordination with investigators and the official investigator.

The CEO of the voyage organizer said that guests and personnel on the ship were notified that the continuation of the journey had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and prior engine troubles".

Via official communication, he mentioned that passengers would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the operator was working "to arrange the homeward trips of the passengers via chartered flights".

Regulatory bodies also issued an revised communication, and said they had "issued a directive to the Commander" banning any additional guests from getting on the liner.

The official said that they would inspect the vessel in Cairns upon its return.

The vessel initially left the coastal city on 24 October, and was merely two days into the journey at the point of the elderly woman's death. The remote island was the opening port on the itinerary.

Travelers on board - who usually pay substantial amounts of currency to participate in the expedition - were ferried there for a daily excursion with the possibility of walking or underwater exploration.

The child of the deceased woman said that her loved ones was "shocked and saddened that the vessel left the island after an organised tour without my mum".

Via her announcement, she characterized her mum as an "active elderly person" who was a affiliate of a walking group.

"From the little information we have been provided, it looks that there was a breakdown of attention and ordinary reasoning," she stated.

She added that she desired the investigation would be able to identify what "the company should have performed that might have preserved Mother's existence".
